Like many other teams before them, the Lakers had a serious problem with Oklahoma City’s athleticism and speed. It’s nearly impossible to shut down both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook while dealing with the Thunder’s depth, and no one will be surprised if they are hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy in a couple of weeks. Following their Game 2 meltdown, the Lakers were never really in the series. Despite his 42 points in Game 5, there are many who believe Kobe Bryant’s poor shot selection played a big factor in the Lakers’ demise. Mavericks forward Brian Cardinal would seem to be one of those people.
