New York Rangers reporter John Giannone took a puck to the face toward the end of the second period in the Rangers’ 4-1 win over the New York Islanders on Thursday, and the man handled it like a champion.
Rangers defenseman Marc Staal was looking to dump the puck in but it cleared the boards and landed in the area separating the teams’ benches where Giannone stands for his reports. Giannone was nailed squarely in the bridge of the nose and began bleeding, but he took it like a champ. The guy didn’t even stop broadcasting, and instead received treatment while on air for MSG.
Giannone seemed to be doing just fine after the game. He was cracking jokes on Twitter and sharing some self-deprecating humor. Check out his exchange with Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto:
