Mike Tolbert does Dirty Bird after scoring touchdown (GIF)

Mike Tolbert Dirty BirdI guess it’s still fashionable to mock the Dirty Bird even though that hasn’t been a big celebration for the Atlanta Falcons for a while. After scoring a touchdown in the first quarter on Sunday to put the Carolina Panthers up 7-0 on the Falcons, running back Mike Tolbert celebrated with the Dirty Bird dance that was made popular by Jamal Anderson during the Atlanta Falcons’ Super Bowl run in the 1998 season.

Jonathan Stewart or DeAngelo Williams could be traded after Mike Tolbert signing

The Panthers announced the signing of Mike Tolbert Monday, sparking speculation that they may trade one of their running backs. Carolina already has DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, and Mike Goodson under contract at the position. Stewart will be a free agent after the season. Williams signed a five-year contract last July and would likely have less value on the trade market.

The team is billing Tolbert as a fullback, indicating they plan to keep all three players. Given Tolbert’s success running the ball with the Chargers, I can’t imagine he signed to become a blocking back. This is probably a front by the Panthers to increase their leverage in trade conversations.

If Carolina ends up trading DeAngelo Williams or Jonathan Stewart, which is what I think will happen, it could be good news for both players. They’ve split carries the past four seasons and limited each others’ numbers. While having complementary backs is critical to preserving players’ health, it cuts into stats.

Though I believe one back will be traded, it’s worth noting the Charlotte Observer says they were told Stewart won’t be dealt.

UPDATE: Chargers reporter Kevin Acee says Tolbert turned down more money from San Diego to return to the South.

Mike Tolbert Gets Dance Lesson, Shows Off his Moves (Video)

Anyone who thinks Mike Tolbert scores touchdowns so the Chargers can win games is wrong; the dude gets into the end zone for the purpose of showing off his dance moves. The fourth-year running back from Coastal Carolina is known for breaking it down after scoring TDs. He recently went to a dance studio to show off his moves and it was all captured in a video by the San Diego Union-Tribune. The screen cap above is a warning: there will be Mike Tolbert belly rubbing in the video:
