NBA All-Star Game 2011 Red Carpet Watch

The 2011 NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles held true to the city in which it took place, as the players hit the red carpet with their best Hollywood outfits on. Chris Bosh and LeBron James were sporting softer color suits and sun glasses, while the other member of Miami’s Bermuda Triangle, Dwyane Wade, was representing with a skinny tie.

The other top team in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics, put their four stars in the game. Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen all went with the secret service look, while Kevin Garnett went sans shades:

Apparently the non-dirty player didn’t get the memo. Here are pics of all the other All-Stars and celebs on the red carpet at Staples Center:

NBA Slam Dunk Contest: Blake Griffin and DeMar DeRozan Are the Easy Favorites

Blake Griffin gave NBA fans a collective boner when he answered our prayers by saying he would join the Slam Dunk Contest. As if that wasn’t good enough, the NBA seemed to listen to our other request — to replace point guard Brandon Jennings in the event. Jennings actually was injured, but the league did well to name DeMar DeRozan the replacement because that kid can get up.

Clippers rookie forward Blake Griffin is the easy favorite in the contest, checking in at 1:3 odds to win it. He had a spectacular alley-oop in the Rookie Challenge on Friday, and he’s been an individual nightly highlight show. There was his alley-oop over Kyle Korver, and then his reverse alley-oop during a game. But my favorite dunk of his this year was the one where he tea-bagged Timofey Mozgov:

DeMar DeRozan is a second-year forward for the Toronto Raptors. He was their first-round pick in 2009, selected 9th overall. Last year he won the first ever dunk-in for the contest, beating out Eric Gordon. He finished second to Nate Robinson last year, but he was the only player to record a perfect score in the contest. His odds to win it are 3:1. It’s easy to see why he’s in competition to win it — he took the 2008 McDonald’s All-American Slam Dunk Contest with jams like this:

Adidas Yellow All-Star Game Shoes Steal the Show

If you happened to check into the Rookie Challenge on Friday night of All-Star weekend, it was impossible not to notice the retina-piercing yellow sneakers on the court. Several players were rocking the Adidas adiPURE shoes for the game and these babies were bright yellow. As I wrote on twitter (follow LBS), it was just like watching Oregon’s football team during the National Championship Game. Jrue Holiday, Wesley Johnson, Serge Ibaka, Taj Gibson, James Harden, and Steph Curry were some of the players blinding us on the floor with their yellow shoes. Here’s an up-close look at these babies:

We know Adidas has been rolling out special items for the weekend including tight-fitting jerseys, and new shoes for Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, and Snoop Dogg, but I’d say they swung and missed with these ones. When I watch the NBA, I want to keep my eyes on the ball and not the feet. Thanks guys.

Adidas Releases Snoop Dogg Shoes for All-Star Weekend

A few weeks ago we introduced you to the tight-fitting jerseys Adidas was planning to debut this weekend at the All-Star Game. In addition to the jerseys, we shared the news that both Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard would have special shoes unveiled for the break (both athletes will appear at Foot Locker locations in the LA-area this weekend for their shoe releases — email us for details).

Keeping up with our All-Star weekend swag watch, Adidas has partnered with Snoop and released a limited edition shoe for the weekend called the adiPure Snoop Dogg. Some of the details on the gear: The adiPure Snoop Dogg is filled with Snoop’s personal signatures including a tongue design featuring a basketball hoop with sneakers dangling as a call-out to hoops and power lines from his 213 neighborhood, call-outs to his church league, Snoop-A-Loop, 21st Street and Long Beach, and the shoe’s purple outsole features the Snoop Dogg eyes logo and “Doggy” and “Style” on the left and right shoes. They retail for $100 which is a nice chunk of change, but won’t break you.

You can also follow along with Snoop as he takes you through a VIP look at All-Star Weekend. Here’s Snoop’s first video as he checks in:

Adidas Debuting Tight-Fitting Jerseys at All-Star Game, New Derrick Rose Shoes

Whoo boy, I’m sure you’ve seen Dwight Howard taking off his shirt to reveal a skin-tight jersey underneath plenty of times in the past. Well what if I told you that tight-fitting jersey will be available to him and all All-Star players to wear during the All-Star Game later this month? The jerseys won’t be mandatory but they’ll be optional.

In addition to the tight jerseys, Adidas is releasing a new Derrick Rose shoe called the “adiZero Rose 1.5″ at the All-Star Game. Their other superstar basketball player, Dwight Howard, will have his new “Super Beast” shoe released as well. Both shoes will go for a relatively reasonable $100.

Lastly, the fine people at Adidas are introducing a new warmup suit for the All-Stars that will mimic a three-piece suit, giving players a red carpet look. Can’t wait to see those badboys!

So what do you think of the tight jerseys? I think they’re fine, but cohesiveness is a big issue for me; you can’t have a tight shirt and baggy shorts, it has to be a coordinated look.
