Report: Baseball agents fight in parking lot over client poaching (Video)
Most of the big offseason baseball transactions took place last week, rendering the 2013 winter meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., pretty disappointing. But a scrap between a couple of agents on Wednesday sure livened things up.
Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Passan reports that two agents fought and hurled confrontational words at each other in the self-parking lot outside the Walt Disney World Dolphin hotel. The video is taken from a distance, but you can still see at least one guy take a swing at the other.
According to what witnesses told Passan, the fight was over one agent being upset at the other for (attempted?) client poaching.
“Stay the [expletive] away from my guy!” one of the agents supposedly yelled at the other.
One of the men also supposedly threatened to burn the other guy’s house down. Sounds like a couple of real charmers, huh?
Passan says the fight came to an end when a local sheriff patrolling the area and hotel employees broke it up.
Of course we wish the video of the fight were better but, hey, at least it’s something. And how much money would you have given for one of the people in the fight to be Scott Boras? I’d pay to see that guy in a celebrity death match.
