About the only way Alex Gordon could be slowed down in the postseason was when he got hit in the neck by a pitch in Game 1 of the ALCS on Friday.
Gordon, who had a bases-clearing double in the third to put the Royals up 4-0, was nailed in the neck by a 94-mph fastball from Baltimore Orioles reliever Andrew Miller in the 8th. Gordon was examined by Kansas City’s trainer and passed a concussion test, so he was permitted to stay in the game and continue running at first.
Gordon had a red mark on his neck immediately after getting hit, which we imagine will turn into a bruise before long.
