Alex Rodriguez inexplicably seemed way out of his depth on Monday when interviewing Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander at the MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia.
Rodriguez asked Verlander a lengthy question about how the pitcher fought through adversity to become a star. However, none of that was based in fact.
“How do you explain being a late draft pick, being designated for assignment a couple of times with two different teams?” Rodriguez asked Verlander.
The problem with that question is that none of that is true. Verlander was a No. 2 overall pick and has never been designated for assignment, prompting him to correct Rodriguez and tell the former Yankee that he “got the wrong notes.”
Awkward moment for A-Rod, interviewing Justin Verlander saying we was designated for assignment by two different teams.

Rodriguez tried to play it off as a joke, but he certainly seemed serious when asking the question. Even if it was a joke, it was not particularly funny. There is not much comedy value in watching someone asked someone else a question based on an entirely incorrect premise.
This is not the first time Rodriguez has screwed something up on the air for FOX. It might be the worst, however.
