Brandon McCarthy pitched very well in his New York Yankees debut on Saturday, allowing just six hits and one earned run over six innings to pick up a win over the Cincinnati Reds. Unfortunately, his lovely wife Amanda missed the start of the game.
Amanda probably thought she wouldn’t hit much traffic heading to a Saturday afternoon game, but the McCarthys live in New York now. Things in the Big Apple are much, much different from Arizona.
Never driving to the ballpark again… Lesson learned

How much would it cost to rent a helicopter to parachute me in every 5 days?

Hi @mlb Amanda here, can you postpone the Yankees game today? I am stuck on the Deegan again. Thanks! Xoxo

And stop telling Amanda she should take the subway to the game. She knows her approach is flawed — she doesn’t want to be reminded.
Telling me to take the subway is like telling me there is a new stadium.. I know guys, I know..

Fortunately, Amanda arrived to the ballpark in the bottom of the first. She only missed one inning of Brandon’s nine-strikeout performance, so it could have been worse. Now she knows to leave a little earlier for games if she’s going to drive. Yes, there’s traffic on weekends in New York. There’s always traffic in New York.
As for Brandon, he took a little jab at his wife when informed that she documented her struggle en route to the ballpark.
“If everybody isn’t apprised of what she’s doing every few minutes, God knows what would happen,” McCarthy said sarcastically, via Big League Stew.
I know the type.
