Andrew McCutchen admits trade rumors left him ‘on edge’
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen has been the subject of trade rumors for weeks, and he admitted that it does impact him.
McCutchen described the feeling as being “on edge” when speaking at Saturday’s PirateFest.
“I’d be lying to you if I told you none of this bothered me,” McCutchen said, via ESPN. “Of course it did. I’m human.
“My dream is to be a Pirate my whole career. My dream is still to win multiple World Series. We all have those dreams.”
McCutchen’s comments come after general manager Neal Huntington said Thursday that his center fielder is unlikely to be traded, backing up previous reports. It would seem to close the book on the trade rumors surrounding the former MVP. In the end, most of his suitors, such as the Washington Nationals, simply went after different players.
