The mood during the second inning at Chase Field on Tuesday turned in an instant when Archie Bradley was hit in the face by a line drive off the bat of Carlos Gonzalez. Fortunately, it appears Bradley did not sustain serious injuries.

After the game, Bradley posted the above photo of himself to his Twitter account, showing significant swelling to the right side of his face. He also acknowleged those who showed concern by writing, “Pretty ugly huh? In all Seriousness tho thanks for the text, tweets and prayers! Could have been a lot worse! #lucky”

For now, the 22-year-old has been told there is damage to his sinus cavity, although more will be determined after additional tests once the swelling subsides.

While some may not want to relive a moment like that, Bradley has watched the moment several times already.

“You know it’s part of the game. Obviously you hate to see it. It hurt pretty bad. It doesn’t bother me to watch the replay. I’ve seen it 15, 20 times now, Bradley said via MLB.com. After watching it, it could have easily got me in the eye or directly in the face. I’ve got to think the Lord above is watching over me.”

As Bradley noted, the results could have been much worse and we are all thankful that isn’t the case.
