Aroldis Chapman hits 104 on radar gun (Video)
Aroldis Chapman still throws very, very hard. The Cincinnati Reds reliever has struck out 66 batters in just 32 1/3 innings of work this season. When you see the 104-mph fastball he threw against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night, you’ll understand why.
That’s right, Chapman hit 104. The 26-year-old fanned all three batters he faced in the ninth inning to keep his team in a 1-1 game. He was clocked at 104 once and 103 on several other pitches. The Reds eventually lost 2-1 in the 15th, but that doesn’t make the gas Chapman was throwing any less impressive.
We already saw Chapman hit 103 on the radar gun earlier this season after he returned from taking a line drive to the face. The fact that his arm hasn’t fallen off yet is incredible.
