Astros acquire Ryan Pressly from Twins for two prospects
The Houston Astros are adding to their bullpen but paying a price to do so.
Houston acquired reliever Ryan Pressly from the Minnesota Twins on Friday for prospects Jorge Alcala and Gilberto Celestino.
Pressly, 29, has a 3.40 ERA in 47.2 innings this season. The big number for him is all the punchouts — 69 this season.
Celestino is a 19-year-old prospect who hit .317 with an .844 OPS in low-A this season. Alcala is a 22-year-old pitcher who has a 3.29 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 78 innings this season between high-A and Double-A.
Houston may have been willing to give away the two prospects for Pressly because they also get Pressly for 2019 too before he becomes a free agent.
