Astros hire James Click away from Rays to serve as GM
The Houston Astros are remaking parts of their franchise and now have a new general manager to go with their new manager hire.
The Astros announced on Monday that they have hired James Click as their GM. Click comes from the Tampa Bay Rays, where he was the VP of Baseball Operations.
Click was hired by the Rays in 2006 as a coordinator in baseball operations and ascended to his VP position. Like former Rays executive Chaim Bloom, Click is also a Yale graduate.
Houston was searching for a new general manager and manager after firing Jeff Luhnow and A.J. Hinch once MLB announced its discipline for the franchise for cheating. They hired Dusty Baker as their manager last week and have now added Click.
Tampa Bay meanwhile has lost both Click and Bloom in the same offseason, but they still have Erik Neander as their general manager.
