Shohei Ohtani is taking the mound in the United States for the first time on Sunday afternoon, and interest in his native Japan is apparently very high.
The Oakland Athletics, who are hosting Ohtani’s Los Angeles Angels for the weekend, said they’ve given out 240 media credentials to Japanese media alone for Sunday’s game.
Two hundred and forty credentials were issued to members of the Japanese media today, per the A's.

Ohtani has already played — and has a hit to his credit — but this will be his debut on the mound. We’ve certainly seen similar interest when other Japanese players such as Yu Darvish came over to the United States, but the unique nature of Ohtani and his ability makes this one particularly notable.
