Report: Blue Jays are likely to lose 1 player from their World Series team

The Toronto Blue Jays may have to say happy trails to one of their longtime mainstays.

A reunion for the Blue Jays with shortstop Bo Bichette is viewed as increasingly unlikely, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reported on Tuesday. Bannon further adds that Toronto are currently increasing their efforts to lure four-time All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker in free agency.

The Blue Jays have already had an extremely busy offseason. In addition to their pursuit of Tucker, they have signed big free agents like Dylan Cease, Tyler Rogers, Kazuma Okamoto, and others.

But that also means that the money may have run dry for their two-time All-Star infielder Bichette. The 27-year-old Bichette has been with Toronto for his entire MLB career since 2019 and is at a high point of his value after batting .311 to go along with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs last season.

The righty-hitting Bichette thus should not have much trouble finding a new team if need be. In fact, we recently heard that three top contenders had entered the mix to sign Bichette as a free agent.

But a Bichette departure from Toronto would obviously be a real end of an era, especially after they made it to the World Series together in 2025. While other players from that pennant team (including Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa) remain unsigned, Bichette may potentially be the highest-profile exit from the Blue Jays this offseason.
