There was a fatal shooting inside the Eaton Centre mall in Toronto on Saturday, and Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie witnessed it and was one of the first people to spread the news.
The third baseman was in the mall following his team’s 7-3 loss to the Red Sox on Saturday and shared the following account of what happened:
Pretty sure someone just let off a round bullets in eaton center mall .. Wow just sprinted out of the mall … Through traffic …

People sprinting up the stairs right from where we just were … Wow wow wow

After sending the two tweets seen above, Lawrie then said “This is crazy. … I hope everyone is ok,” and “This is serious .. Oh my god” when multiple police cars and an ambulance arrive at the scene. He shared the following photo of what he saw:

Lawrie ended his series of tweets by saying he was “rattled.” It’s easy to see why — one person was killed and seven are injured, including one in life-threatening condition and two in critical condition.
We wish the best for all the shooting victims.
