Craig Kimbrel’s wait for a new team is ongoing, and it doesn’t seem that there’s any end in sight.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Milwaukee Brewers remain very interested in Kimbrel, but team sources are “pessimistic” about reaching a deal with the veteran closer.
The New York Mets are doing due diligence on Kimbrel as well, but a signing there seems unlikely. The Tampa Bay Rays have also kept in touch, and other contenders are doing the same, seemingly waiting for Kimbrel’s asking price to drop.
The Brewers have left the door open on Kimbrel, but there definitely appears to be some distance between the two parties right now. Perhaps that gap will be bridged eventually, but it does not seem imminent at this point, and it doesn’t seem as if any other team is about to swoop in and pick him up either.
