Brian Wilson went from being one of the most omnipresent figures in baseball to a total non-factor the past two years. It’s been months since anyone had seen or heard from the former All-Star closer. But it might not be much longer before we begin hearing from him again.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, the former San Francisco Giants closer is back in the Bay Area as he attempts a comeback from a second Tommy John surgery. The photo above shows him pitching at the University of San Francisco on Friday. Wilson also reportedly was playing disc golf (aka frolf) at Golden Gate Park on Saturday.
ESPN’s Buster Olney reported earlier this month that Wilson could audition for scouts in August. The Giants are said to be one of the teams following his rehab.
If that really is Wilson in the photo — and it sure looks like him — then he still has his trademark beard and it looks like he was dressed as a ninja. He also appears to be rocking some orange cleats that once got him in trouble.
