Harper led off the bottom of the sixth inning of his Philadelphia Phillies’ 5-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pa. with a double. After reaching second base, Harper appeared to fake spit into his hand and then flash two fingers.

What’s the deal with that motion? What is “Hawk Tuah?”
Well, if you’ve been on social media over the last few days, you may have seen a brief video clip of a young girl talking about a sexual move that involves spitting. She said “hawk tuah” as she demonstrated the spitting move, and a meme was born.
It seems as if Harper may have seen the memes and was acting in response. The Phillies may have thought a “tuah” celebration made sense after a double because you get two-ah bases on a double.
