Bucs TE OJ Howard makes great barehanded catch at Rays playoff game
OJ Howard made his best catch of the season, and it didn’t even come during a football game.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end attended Game 4 of the ALDS between the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros in St. Petersburg on Tuesday night. He was down by the right field line and made a barehanded grab on an Austin Meadows foul ball in the bottom of the eighth.

Commentator AJ Pierzynski called him “that gentleman,” not realizing how fitting it was for an NFL player to make such a spectacular catch.
Of course, Howard making a catch at a Rays game carries a lot of irony. The lack of targets he’s seen this season — just 14 in five games — has been a major talking point among Bucs fans and source of frustration among some fantasy owners. He has just 11 catches for 141 yards.
Bruce Arians doesn’t really utilize tight ends, so Howard had to go to The Trop to get a target.
