Cardinals’ Dexter Fowler out with fractured foot
St Louis Cardinals outfielder Dexter Fowler is heading to the disabled list with a fractured foot.
Fowler was forced to leave Friday’s loss to the Pirates early with an apparent foot injury. During the eighth inning, Fowler appeared to injure himself while running the bases and needed assistance leaving the field.

Fowler was later seen using crutches.
He was initially removed from the game due to what was initially called a “left foot contusion.”
Dexter Fowler just went by the clubhouse using crutches, avoiding putting weight on his left foot. We have no details on any injury yet; he will go for X-Rays. He was taken out of the game with a "left foot contusion". https://t.co/5GRGrQXvJH

Fowler has struggled at the plate this season, hitting just .175/.274/.295 in 89 games.
His injury should open the door for Tyler O’Neill to receive more playing time.
