CC Sabathia is looking pretty skinny

One of the main concerns the New York Yankees had when they signed CC Sabathia to a massive contract is his size. The 33-year-old left-hander has been generously listed at 290 pounds over the past few seasons, but anyone who has watched him knows he has climbed over 300 before. At the moment, Sabathia looks like he could be below the 290 mark.

Sabathia and his wife Amber attended a wedding over the weekend, and Amber shared a couple photos of a slim-looking CC. Sabathia also posted a photo on his Instagram last week of him hanging out with the cast of “Entourage.”

Last offseason, the Yankees made it clear that they wanted Sabathia to remain in better shape and lose some weight. He started brown-bagging his lunches to spring training for portion control, but CC still appeared to get pretty big during the 2013 season, which was a down year for him.

In a text conversation with Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Sabathia laughed off the notion that he has lost a bunch of weight.

“I’m actually the same weight as I was last year, just a little more toned and a lot more strong,” he said. “This is the first offseason I was able to weight-train and get stronger and not worry about weight loss.

We think he’s being modest, and good for him. He probably doesn’t want to create a lot of hype about nothing, but slimming down can only help Sabathia at this phase of his career. I’m sure the Yankees are happy with what they see.
