Chris Sale reportedly avoids suspension for throwing behind Manny Machado

Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale will reportedly avoid a suspension for a pitch thrown behind Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado.

Though Sale’s pitch clearly looked intentional, ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that no suspension is forthcoming.

A final determination has been made: Chris Sale will not be suspended by MLB for throwing behind Manny Machado earlier this week.

Reports had indicated that Sale is likely to face discipline, so a fine could still be coming. This is a really weak job by Major League Baseball. The pitch could not have been more intentional, and it restarted a feud that looked to have been dealt with already. Sale will somehow get away with it without missing any time, though.
