Chris Sale showed on Wednesday that he is more than just a Cy Young pitcher. He can also show his athleticism in the field.
Sale was attempting to pitch a complete game shutout in his Atlanta Braves’ 5-0 win over the visiting New York Mets at Truist Park in Atlanta, Ga. He was facing Juan Soto in the top of the 9th inning and threw a 3-2 slider that Soto tapped towards second base. Sale made a great diving stop to field the ball and then made a throw from his knees to get Soto out at first.

You can tell just how badly Sale wanted that shutout. Sale then followed with a strikeout of Pete Alonso, but he allowed a hit to Brandon Nimmo and then was pulled after 8.2 scoreless innings. Raisel Iglesias then entered the game to get the final out and close the door.
Sale improved to 5-4 with a 2.52 ERA thanks to his strong start. His Braves are now 33-39 and have won five of their last six games. Even at age 36, Sale is showing he still has it.
