Clayton Kershaw has been uncharacteristically knocked around a bit in his past few starts, and we may now have a better idea of why.
On Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that Kershaw is heading to the disabled list with tendonitis in his pitching elbow.

Even with how dominant he has continued to be in recent years, this is Kershaw’s third consecutive season spending time on the DL. The left-hander posted his first quality start in three outings last Wednesday, but he has allowed nine earned runs and 20 hits in his last 18 innings pitched.
Kershaw, 30, can opt out of his contract after the season, but he is due to make $32 million in 2019 and $33 million in 2020. While it once seemed like a foregone conclusion that he would be seeking a new deal, that will depend on his health going forward.
