Clayton Kershaw motivated to prove doubters wrong with new deal
Clayton Kershaw will be a Los Angeles Dodger for at least three more seasons, and despite his many accomplishments, he has a lot of motivation to do even more.
The 30-year-old left-hander is well aware that some have argued that he’s a pitcher in decline, and he wants to put that speculation to rest now that his future definitely lies in Los Angeles.
Clayton Kershaw mentioned the various reports about his decline. "This deal gives me a chance to prove a lot of people wrong,” he said. "I’m looking forward to proving a lot of people wrong."

Kershaw hasn’t been able to avoid the disabled list for three seasons running, and his record of underwhelming playoff performances continues to dog him, unfairly or not. Kershaw has shown his dedication to the Dodgers by taking a small pay cut, and he’ll want to stay healthy and pitch well in the playoffs to prove his worth.
