Cole Hamels needed stitches in chin after tripping
Those watching Cole Hamels pitch during Tuesday’s All-Star Game in San Diego likely noticed a bandage he had on his chin. The reason for the bandage was later revealed.
According to FOX MLB reporter Ken Rosenthal, the Texas Rangers pitcher tripped coming out of the bathroom in his hotel room and needed eight stitches for the cut:
Cole Hamels needed eight stitches in his chin after he tripped coming out of bathroom in his hotel room at 5 am. "Now I can sleep," he said.

Luckily the chin didn’t seem to bother Hamels too much on the mound. Despite allowing two hits for the AL All-Star team, Hamels pitched a scoreless third inning and recorded a strikeout.
