Corey Kluber reportedly unlikely to be traded

Corey Kluber

Corey Kluber’s name has been mentioned in trade talks all offseason, but it does not seem like a trade is imminent.

MLB.com’s Jon Morosi reported about the trade status of Kluber, saying the pitcher is unlikely to go anywhere unless the Los Angeles Dodgers or Milwaukee Brewers improve their offers.

Kluber is signed for the next three seasons at extremely reasonable prices — just over $52 million total if the team picks up their club options. The Cleveland Indians were considering dealing him or Trevor Bauer as they sought some payroll relief, but they achieved that through some other moves, taking away the pressure for a move.

This report seems to be Cleveland’s way of telling potential suitors to bring forth their best offer before it’s too late.

The 32-year-old Cy Young winner went 20-7 with a 2.89 ERA last season and 222 strikeouts in 215 innings.
