Corey Seager got awesome reception in return to Dodger Stadium

Corey Seager getting applause from Dodgers fans

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager on Tuesday returned to Dodger Stadium for the first time since leaving the team in 2022. The fans certainly didn’t treat him like an opposing player.

Seager was not in action during the Rangers-Dodgers series opener due to a left hamstring injury. But that didn’t stop fans from giving Seager his flowers for the seven years he played wearing Dodger blue.

Seager was named to two All-Star teams as a member of the Dodgers. He finished third in NL MVP voting during the 2016 season after hitting .308 with 26 home runs and 72 RBI across 157 games played in his sophomore campaign.

But injuries stalled what was once shaping up to be a meteoric rise toward superstardom for the hard-hitting shortstop. During his final four seasons with the Dodgers, Seager played in just over half (307 out of 546) of his team’s games due to injury.

The present-day Dodgers, however, reminded fans that they have a lot of talented players to cheer for on the current roster. The Dodgers smacked around Rangers pitching on Tuesday in a 15-2 beatdown of the defending World Series winners.

The home team hit four home runs in the 7th inning alone, including a moonshot from Shohei Ohtani.

Seager wasn’t the only visiting player on Tuesday who received applause from a road stadium. One NL Central pitcher was so dominant that he got a standing ovation from his opponents’ home fans.
