Report: Corey Seager drawing trade interest from Reds
Signing Mike Moustakas may not be the only upgrade that the Cincinnati Reds make to their infield this winter.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported on Thursday that the Reds have shown interest in Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager all offseason.
Seager, who is still only 25 years old, looked sharp last season in his return from Tommy John surgery. He hit .272 with 19 home runs and 87 RBIs. Seager is also on track to become a free agent after the 2021 campaign.
The timing here is probably no coincidence, as the Dodgers are said to be in the market for one of baseball’s top shortstops. With Gavin Lux also capable of playing short and the two sides recently linking up for the Yasiel Puig trade, the fit at least makes sense even if Seager might be too good to deal right now.
