Crazy Carlos Correa stat goes viral after Twins signing

Carlos Correa is definitely wading in some uncharted waters with his move to Minnesota.

A crazy stat went viral this week after Correa’s stunning decision to sign with the Twins. It turns out that Correa has more career playoff wins (45) than the entire Twins franchise since their move to Minnesota in 1961 (25).

He has 45 playoff wins, idk how easily I can find the total for the Twins, let me look https://t.co/zYpmaBwqvc

Okay Correa has 45, the Twins since moving to Minnesota have 25

The Twins reached the World Series three times in the 1920s and 1930s when their franchise was still known as the Washington Senators. But excluding those years, they have made just three World Series appearances in the last six decades (most recently in 1991) and have not even advanced to the ALCS since 2002. Though they won the World Series in 1987 and 1991, the Twins have become notorious for their recent playoff struggles. They haven’t won a playoff game since 2004 despite making the postseason six times since then.

Meanwhile, Correa has had a lot of playoff success already at just 27, having been on some loaded Houston Astros teams that made the World Series in three of the last five years and the ALCS in all five years.

Minnesota will probably not be nearly as good as Correa is used to his team being. But the star shortstop only signed a short-team deal with the Twins. That creates the possibility that Correa could jump ship early if it does not work out or even that the Twins could trade him to a contender midseason for a decent-sized haul.
