Dave Roberts won himself a high-profile fan on Monday for his kind gesture during a Los Angeles Dodgers game.
Former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was in attendance for the Dodgers’ game against the Kansas City Royals at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. Carr, a longtime Dodgers fan, was in the building early to attend batting practice.
Carr and his family had a wholesome interaction with Roberts before Monday’s first pitch, which he shared to his 464 thousand followers on X.
“Shoutout to Dave Roberts,” Carr wrote in his social media post. “We are at a Dodgers game and he noticed my wife holding our newborn and kids in the heat during batting practice and invited us into his office to cool off for 30 minutes. A genuinely kind person. Thanks Dave. Go Dodgers.”

Carr will get the chance to catch a Dodgers game far more often over the next year. The 4-time Pro Bowler accepted an offer to serve as a special advisor for the UCLA football program, based just a half-hour drive away from the Chavez Ravine location.
The Dodgers may have benefited from the positive karma from Roberts’ gesture, as the team came from behind Monday to beat the Royals 6-5. The win was just the team’s second over its last 10 games.
