Dave Roberts had great reaction to Dodgers breaking losing streak

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday finally ended their 7-game losing streak, and manager Dave Roberts had a very fitting reaction to it.

The Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1 at Oracle Park in San Francisco, Calif., to end their streak. Shohei Ohtani started the game with three scoreless innings, and the Dodgers’ bullpen allowed just one run over the ensuing six innings. Emmet Sheehan went 4.1 innings in relief to pick up the win, while Tanner Scott got the save.

The Giants scored a run and threatened to add more in the 8th, but the Dodgers were able to hold them back. Scott set the Giants down 1-2-3 in the 9th to end the game. Roberts held his hands to the sky afterwards to say “thank you” in an “at last” way.

No team likes going through a 7-game losing streak, but it’s especially bad when you’re a team that just won the World Series and made over $1.7 billion in financial commitments over the last two offseasons.

“Obviously it feels a lot better sitting here today than it did the last seven days,” Roberts said after the win.

Despite their recent losing streak, the Dodgers still have the best record in the National League and the second-best record in MLB at 57-39. Their losing may be in over just in time for them to extend their lead in the NL West, which as of Saturday was 4.5 over the second-place San Diego Padres.
