Watch: Davey Martinez ejected after going nuts on umpires during 7th inning

Dave Martinez ejected

Washington Nationals manager Davey Martinez was ejected from Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night after going nuts on the umpires during the middle of the 7th inning.

Martinez was still fuming over an interference call made by umpire Sam Holbrook on Trea Turner that changed the game. Instead of having runners on second and third with nobody out, the Nats ended up with a runner on first and one out due to the call.

Two batters later, Anthony Rendon homered to make it 5-2. If Turner had not been called out, that would have been a 3-run home run and put the Nats up 6-2.

So after the half inning, Martinez was still fuming and went after the umps. Here’s his ejection:

Martinez had every reason to be upset. That call should not be made. Turner was not trying to impede the Astros’ throw to first. He started veering towards first base as he made his way closer to the bag and ended up towards the middle. Runners have a right to the base as long as they’re within the basepath, and the fielders have to throw around them. Peacock threw into the runner, which is a throwing error. That was a poor judgement call by Holbrook.
