David Ortiz was in his usual jovial mood despite his Boston Red Sox losing the New York Yankees on Sunday night, and he decided to talk some friendly trash.
First he made small talk with former teammate Stephen Drew after cruising into second base on a wild pitch in the fourth inning. Then, while on second base and taking his lead, he turned to look at former teammate Jacoby Ellsbury and yelled a zinger.
“Hey rich bitch!” he yelled at Ellsbury, presumably in reference to the 7-year, $153 million deal the outfielder signed with the Yanks after the 2013 season.
Love it. Maybe next time the Yankees will pick him off while he’s being a little too friendly on the field, but we have to appreciate the entertainment he provides. It’s also nice to see him in a good mood and unaffected by his .185 batting average to start the year.
Oh, and between this video and his David Price comments, I think we’ve found his favorite word.
