David Price’s rehab extended a week
David Price has not suffered a setback in his recovery from a spring training elbow injury, but the Boston Red Sox will be playing things safely with him.
Price threw a bullpen session last weekend. The next step was supposed to be throwing to live hitters, but Boston has decided to have the southpaw throw another bullpen first.
According to the Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham, Price threw long toss in Toronto on Wednesday and is set to throw two simulated innings for a bullpen session on Friday. That has pushed his rehab program back by a week because he isn’t facing live hitters yet.
Price went 17-9 with a 3.99 ERA last season for the Red Sox. The southpaw is in the second of a 7-year deal with the team. It makes sense for the Sox to be cautious with him.
