Dodgers OF AJ Pollock to undergo exploratory surgery on elbow
One of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ big free agent signings is already undergoing some injury concerns.
Center fielder AJ Pollock was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Shortly after his placement on the IL was announced, the Dodgers said Pollock would undergo exploratory surgery on his elbow to determine the severity of the infection.
#Dodgers CF A.J. Pollock will undergo exploratory surgery to determine extent and severity of infection in right elbow. If docs find issues with “hardware” in growth plate it will be repaired.

Though the injury news is unfortunate, it should not come as a surprise to the Dodgers. They knew when they signed Pollock to a 4-year, $55 million deal in the offseason that he struggles to stay healthy. He has only played in more than 137 games in a season once in his career.
Pollock was batting .223 with a .617 OPS this season. Alex Verdugo will likely see more action in center field with Pollock out.
