Kyle Tucker continues to be a negative investment for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The struggling outfielder Tucker was out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. Before the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke with reporters and explained why Tucker was not playing that day.
Roberts revealed that Tucker’s hitting splits during home games are so poor that the team figured they would give him a day off to reset. Noting that Tucker was “conscious” of his struggles and showing some “frustration” right now, Roberts said that Tucker would be back in the lineup on Sunday.
The four-time All-Star Tucker is indeed hitting a woeful .192 at home this season versus hitting .275 on the road. That works out to an overall batting average of .234 to go along with 11 homers and 54 RBIs through 116 games.
But Tucker, 29, is currently in the first season of a four-year, $240 million contract with the Dodgers. For Tucker to be so bad that he needs a day off just to get over how bad he is … well, that is not exactly the type of return that the Dodgers were hoping to get for their money.
The Dodgers ultimately went to lose Saturday’s game to the Brewers by a final score of 4-1. If it is any consolation for Tucker though, at least the Dodgers’ other big signing of the past winter has somehow been even worse.
