Dodgers, Brewers reportedly still talking Ryan Braun trade

Ryan Braun

Rumors of a potential Ryan Braun trade to the Dodgers continue to swirl.

During the week, MLB.com’s Jon Paul Morosi reported that the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers remain in contact about a potential trade of Braun. On Saturday, the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo reported the same.

The Dodgers and Brewers were in talks last year about a potential trade involving Braun but that did not happen. The Dodgers were on Braun’s short list of teams to which the Brewers could trade him without his approval.

In a little over a month, Braun becomes a 10/5 player (10 years in MLB, five spent with the same team) that gives him the ability to decline any trade.

The belief is that Braun would still be open to a trade to his hometown team, which has led to rumors persisting, especially considering that the outfield had been the Dodgers’ weakness.

Braun batted .305 with 30 home runs last season, producing his best OPS (.903) since 2012. He’s under contract through 2020 and has a mutual option for 2021. Braun is batting .212 this season but does have three home runs.
