41-year-old Eric Gagne contemplating a comeback

Eric Gagne last threw a Major League pitch in 2008, but nearly a full decade later, he’s looking for opportunities to come back.

Gagne, who is serving as a special instructor in Los Angeles Dodgers spring camp, plans to pitch for Team Canada in the upcoming World Baseball Classic and has thrown bullpen sessions for three teams.

Gagne says his fastball is in the 90s and his famous changeup is back at an acceptable level as well.

“I feel great. It’s almost scary,” Gagne said, via Ken Gurnick of MLB.com.

The WBC will offer a chance to see just how capable the 41-year-old, who once won a Cy Young Award as the closer for the Dodgers, really is of pitching in the majors. One thing working against him may be the PED accusations he threw around in his autobiography, as well as his own past admission of HGH use.
