Report: Eric Hosmer wants more than seven-year deal
Free agent first baseman Eric Hosmer is so far undeterred by the weak market this offseason.
According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, Hosmer’s agents are pushing for a contract of greater than seven years.
Eric Hosmer’s camp has continued pushing for a contract of more than 7 years, source says. [He is a young free agent at age 28.] The #Royals’ need to re-sign him (and capacity to pay him) increased with this week’s Brandon Moss trade. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Hosmer reportedly has received 7-year contract offers from the Royals and Padres this offseason but has not signed yet. This could explain it.
Hosmer may have trouble getting a contract of greater length. The market is stopped right now, and outside of his former team, the Kansas City Royals, only one club has shown much interest in him. His market is limited. That said, there’s always the chance that the Royals may jump at the opportunity to bring back someone who has been one of their franchise players.
