One of the most sought-after MLB free agents on the market is beginning to seriously look over his options.
First baseman Eric Hosmer traveled to San Diego on Thursday to visit with the Padres, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. The Padres have been an interested party, and it has even made clear that current first baseman Wil Myers has agreed to move to the outfield if San Diego can seal a deal with Hosmer.
Though they’re serious, it’s unclear how much of a shot the Padres have. Hosmer is expected to be expensive and will generate a lot of interest, and San Diego may face an uphill battle — though they were serious enough to get a visit.

Ultimately, if big market teams get involved in the Hosmer sweepstakes — as is expected — the Padres will have a difficult time. They’re the first team we know of to host him in person, though, so they’re definitely a factor.
