The interleague series between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Mets has become some sort of nostalgia trip, particularly for Mets fans, with Pete Alonso returning to his old stomping grounds.
Alonso and his former Mets teammate Francisco Lindor also turned heads when they had a brief interaction during a play review at the end of the sixth inning at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y., on Tuesday.
The two struck up a friendly conversation during the lull. It wasn’t clear what the two stars were talking about, and each covered their mouth at some point during their brief chat.
Here is a video of that moment.

But I thought Lindor was the reason why Pete didn’t come back

The game reached its emotional high point later on, as Alonso hit his 300th career home run in the same park where he hit so many before while still donning the Mets colors.
With the Orioles down by a run in the ninth inning, Alonso stepped up in the clutch and hit a solo home run to tie the score at 3-3 and, more notably, record his 300th dinger in the big leagues.
Alonso’s heroics did not go to waste, with the Orioles eventually taking a 7-5 victory in extra innings.
Lindor and the Mets will get a glimpse of Alonso one last time in 2026, as New York and Baltimore square off in the series finale on Wednesday.
