The Colorado Rockies on Sunday finally fired Bud Black amid their historically bad start to the 2025 season. The move left fans all saying the same thing.
The Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 9-3 on Sunday to end their 8-game losing streak. The win made them a brutal 7-33, and apparently Black’s fate had already been decided. Fans feel like the Rockies have many more problems than just their manager.
If Bud Black was a problem he was certainly down the list

Bud Black Not responsible for what was on the roster of a 7-33 team

I can give you 33 reasons why the @Rockies are 7-33 and zero of them are Bud Black.

If anybody on this app thinks Bud Black was the problem then you don’t know ball. Yes he’s “responsible” but let’s not act like he is the reason we are at this point.

I actually feel bad for Bud Black. Front office/ownership have given him basically nothing during his tenure with the Rockies. Yet he's going to be the fall guy while ownership continues to DO NOTHING TO IMPROVE THE TEAM.

Everyone recognizes that Black was not given much to work with. The Rockies’ roster is really bad, and they will threaten the 2024 Chicago White Sox, which went 41-121, for the worst record ever.
Along with Black, bench coach Mike Redmond was fired by the Rockies. Third base coach Warren Schaeffer was promoted to manager, and Clint Hurdle was named the team’s interim bench coach.
Black had been the Rockies’ manager since 2017. He went 544-690 with the team and led the Rockies to the playoffs in both 2017 and 2018. They have not reached the postseason since then.
