Former teammate gives discouraging update on Bryce Harper free agency

Nobody knows when Bryce Harper will find a new home, but one former teammate who spoke with him recently is warning that it could be further off than even we think.

Relief pitcher Shawn Kelley spent parts of three seasons with Harper on the Washington Nationals, and offered a pretty discouraging assessment of the state of Harper’s free agency on Wednesday.

Rangers pitcher Shawn Kelley on where Bryce Harper will end up: "No idea. Talked to him the other day and he said it’s actually slower than you guys think it is."

Recent reports have indicated that some teams want to try to convince Harper to sign a short-term deal, but the player isn’t interested and the market stalemate continues. If Kelley is correct, it’s hard to see this ending anytime soon.
