The San Francisco Giants are showing Harrison Bader little mercy for an off-the-field scooter accident that caused him serious injury.
Bader crashed his scooter into the back of a San Francisco Fire Department fire engine, which ended up running over his left foot. The incident happened last Sunday night in the Cow Hollow area of San Francisco, Calif. You can read more about Bader’s season-ending foot injury here.
The 32-year-old had already been nursing an injury to his left foot, which had sidelined him since May. Having that same foot get run over by a fire truck did not sit well with the Giants, who announced that the organization would not be paying him until he “is able to resume performing services” for the team again.
“Over the weekend, Harrison Bader was involved in an accident that has delayed Harrison’s prior treatment timeline for plantar fasciitis and, unfortunately, his return to the field,” Giants president Buster Posey said Friday in a statement.
“We are still investigating the circumstances of the accident, but will be suspending payment to Harrison until he is able to resume performing services for the Club.”
Bader had reportedly been spotted drinking at multiple locations before the accident.
The former Gold Glover is in the first year of a 2-year, $20.5 million contract signed earlier this year.
Bader failed to learn from the 2014 scooter accident he was involved in as a college standout at the University of Florida. Bader struck a parked Ford F150 pickup truck during said incident which resulted in the team suspending him for 19 games.
