The Boston Red Sox added the big bat they’ve been looking for on Monday, and Hanley Ramirez is quite excited.
The first baseman/DH reacted to the signing of free agent outfielder J.D. Martinez with something of a warning to the rest of the league.

Hey, might as well be confident, especially with the Red Sox filling a major need.
It’s probably good news for the Red Sox that Ramirez is excited about the signing, as he’s one of the players who stands to lose playing time because of it. Martinez slots partially into the DH role Ramirez has filled in the past, leaving him to fight for time at first base or DH when Martinez isn’t there. Boston was even open to trading him this offseason, so at least he’s okay with this.
