Jacob deGrom undergoes MRI on elbow
Jacob deGrom is undergoing an MRI on his elbow to determine the extent of his injury.
deGrom exited his start for the New York Mets against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday with a hyperextended elbow. Mets manager Mickey Callaway said after the game that deGrom suffered the injury on a swing in his last at-bat. He added that deGrom was undergoing an MRI after the game but they wouldn’t know the results until Thursday.
deGrom went four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out six. He struck out in his lone plate appearance. The game was scoreless when deGrom exited the game, but the Mets wound up losing 7-0 after going to their bullpen early.
deGrom is 3-0 with a 1.87 ERA and 54 strikeouts this season. Matt Harvey would likely rejoin the starting rotation if deGrom misses any time.
