Jake Arrieta not concerned with who Cubs will face in NLDS

The Chicago Cubs will be facing the winner of the National League Wild Card Game in the division series, which opens the door to the rather loaded question of who they’d rather face.

With the New York Mets or the San Francisco Giants looming, the Cubs will be awaiting their foe. Who is preferable? Star pitcher Jake Arrieta has an answer.

“Who gives a s— who we play?” Arrieta said, via Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times. “Now the fun starts. That’s what we’ve been waiting three weeks for.”

Probably the best answer. Not that any professional athlete would do it, but picking a preferred opponent in a situation like this almost never leads to anything good. Plus, you just know that the blunt Arrieta would be clear on his opinion if he had one, but the fearless ace just wants the ball.
