Jake Diekman lands on disabled list after cutting finger on broken beer mug
Texas Rangers left-handed reliever Jake Diekman will have a hard time living down the strange injury he suffered recently.
Diekman lacerated his left index finger, landing him on the disabled list retroactive to July 6, according to the Associated Press. The reliever suffered the injury when he was cut by a piece of glass from a broken beer mug in his luggage.
The mug, purchased from Cheers in Boston, was a souvenir that had broken in his bag.
Diekman won’t miss much time, but he’s going to be hearing about this one for a while. Sure, there is precedent for strange non-baseball related finger injuries, but this one in particular is rather amusing.
